Assign permissions to people

When you invite someone to your vault, you can give them permission to do more than just view items you've shared with them. You can let your most trusted people help you manage your vault by giving them permission to add, edit, or delete items in your vault.

Who can give permissions to others?

Only a vault owner, or a co-owner in the same vault, can assign permissions to any invited people in that vault.

How are permissions assigned?

To assign permissions, a vault owner (or co-owner) can go to People, select the person they wish to assign permissions to, choose the Permissions tab and select which permissions an invited user can have. A vault owner can choose to what degree an invited user can add, edit, or delete vault items. Permissions can be modified at any time.

No. Only the individual that added a note can edit that note (if they have permission to do so). For instance, an invited user to a vault can never edit a note owned by someone else; likewise, a vault owner does not have the ability to edit a note added by an invited user.

What about Reminders or Related Items?

An invited user does not have the ability to see or add any Reminders.

An invited user has no ability to add or edit Related Items; however, they can see any items under Related Items IF that item is shared with them.

Can an invited user edit my vault settings?

No. An invited user cannot edit the vault settings of another person’s vault. In addition, they also cannot edit any account or profile information, other than their own.

What happens when an item is added to my vault by someone else?

Any time an item is added to your vault by someone else, you become the owner of that item; therefore, you see every item they’ve added and you have the ability to edit it in any fashion or delete it if you wish.

Can people I invite to my vault invite other people?

No. Invited users cannot invite someone to participate in your vault. If given permission, they do have the ability to add a person (as well as edit their details) but at no time can they invite someone to be a participant in your vault.

How can I tell what permissions I have in someone else's vault?

You can see what you are capable of doing in another person's vault by navigating to the Dashboard, and reviewing the "About this vault" section.
